In Victoria, driving an unregistered vehicle is a serious offence with significant financial penalties:
- • Two-axle vehicle (standard car): $1,018 penalty infringement notice
- • Three or more axle vehicle: $1,832 penalty infringement notice
- • Court-imposed maximum (first offence): Up to 25 penalty units (~$4,600)
- • Court-imposed maximum (subsequent offence): Up to 50 penalty units (~$9,200)
In addition to the fine, your vehicle may be impounded. Always check your rego expiry date and renew before it lapses.
